About Scarlet, RCC

My passion is supporting those who are striving to create balance, empowerment, clarity, presence and transformation as they connect with their own resiliency, strengths and resources. I help adults understand and process the underlying layers of their current challenges, so that they can attain their goals in a secure, sustainable and meaningful manner.  I believe that we all have incredible wisdom and innate healing capabilities.

I’m a member of Trauma Therapist Network and participate in ongoing specialized training, supervision and connection to leaders in the field of trauma treatment.

Background

I grew up in the Gulf Islands & Victoria and now live on beautiful central Vancouver Island, British Columbia on the traditional territory of the Snaw-Naw-As and Snuneymuxw Nations with my husband, 2 children and dog.

Being a mother is an incredibly rewarding & important part of my life.  Parenting with all the related challenges, balancing and connected attachment is a source of ongoing inspiration, personal growth and continues to positively influence my work as a counsellor.

My life path has been guided in many ways by a connection to movement, nature and a love of adventure; I almost always have a mountain bike ride, surf, hike or ski day planned with friends and family.  My garden, reading and sketching bring me joy on quieter days.

My journey working with people began in outdoor leadership working as a sea kayak & backpacking guide.  These adventures took me all over the coast of British Columbia and to Baja, Alaska, Arizona, Idaho, & California. My background in outdoor leaderships continues to guide my interest in how connection with nature & ourselves, adventure and healthy risk, impacts resiliency and our innate healing capabilities.

My interest in working with trauma began early in my outdoor career, as I noticed that trauma was a common theme that seemed to contribute to many of the challenges my clients faced.

With that interest & inspiration, I completed my Masters in Clinical Psychology.  I have provided counselling services in community mental health, youth outdoor programs, addiction treatment, women’s trauma program, employee assistance programs and in private practice.

I continue to engage in ongoing training and education in trauma treatment as the field is always changing and to fulfill my intention of providing the greatest opportunity for my clients to reach their goals.
